Psychological therapies or talking therapies can help people in lots of different situations.
Talking therapy are for people who are going though difficult times or have emotional problems they cannot solve on their own.
This type of therapy can be more effective then medication.
At some point in our lives many of us will experience problems and issues that seem overwhelming. We may struggle to understand or make sense of what is happening and at times feel alone or question whether we are “going mad”.
Counselling offers time and a safe space to explore these problems. The role of the Counsellor is to listen to and warmly receive the client on equal terms without judgement.
Talking therapy is a collaborative process which works to enable the client to have agency over their lives. Therefore, the Counsellor will not tell you what to do but aims to help you work through and understand your difficulties, empowering you to resolve your problems and make positive changes and decisions in the process.
Jayne is an Integrative Counsellor who uses different therapeutic approaches according to the needs of the client. These approaches can include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic, Solution Focused work and Transactional Analysis.
